Attorney Lisa Watkins of Drayton Plains, MI; ethical dwarf
The State of Michigan provided Lisa C. Watkins with a law license in 1980.
The Attorney Disciplinary Board found Lisa guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, Lisa failed to prepare or file an inventory for a client and failed to obtain and file a Verification of Funds on Deposit for her client in a probate matter. Lisa also filed to prepare or file an account for the client despite the probate court’s order granting her an extension of time to do so.
In a second matter, Lisa was hired to probate the estate of Ruby Marion. Lisa then filed a Petition for Commencement of Proceedings and sought for the appointment of Betty Wims, Ruby’s daughter as personal representative for the estate. Lisa failed to prepare or file an annual account, resulting in the court’s issuance of Notices of Complaint on Omission, and the suspension of her client’s fiduciary powers as personal representative for the estate.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Attorney Disciplinary Board punished Lisa by gifting her with a complimentary 60-day suspension of her law license.
As we speak (ca. December 2012) Lisa practices with the Law Offices of Lisa C. Watkins in Drayton Plains, Michigan.
