The state of Connecticut provided Michael L. with a law license in 1986.
The Statewide Grievance Committee found Demetrios guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, Michael was hired to represent several clients in defense of a civil lawsuit filed in the New Have Judicial District alleging that they had converted or otherwise misappropriated a truck.
After Michael provided the trial court with the necessary filing of his appearance on behalf of his clients, he did absolutely nothing thereafter on the case. Michael didn’t file any pleadings, failed to attend any scheduled hearings, and did not communicate with his clients.
Michael never advised his clients that he was not going to continue to represent them in the case, nor did he ever terminate his representation in writing as required by the rules.
As a direct result of Michael’s gross negligence, the trial court entered a judgment in favor of the plaintiffs and against his clients.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Demetrios by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.
