Attorney William Belk of Charlotte; ethical gnome

The state of North Carolina presented William I. Belk with a law license in 1984.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar charged William with the following misconduct.

In one matter, John was employed as the custodian of the financial accounts held for the benefit of his minor daughter. These funds were subject to the North Carolina Uniform Transfers to Minors Act of the North Carolina General Statutes.

The North Carolina Statutes mandated that William had a duty to hold and use those funds for the sole use and benefit of his minor daughter. William knowingly violated that statutory duty by making expenditures that were unlawful and/or not for his daughter’s direct benefit.

As a consequence of his misconduct the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished William by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2012) William practices at 4550 Fox Brook Lane in Charlotte, North Carolina.
