Attorney Ralph Gilbert III of Shelby, NC; Dufus

The state of North Carolina presented Ralph Gilbert III with a law license in 1986.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar charged Ralph with the following misconduct.

Ralph’s misconduct arose due to his handling of various trust account. As a result of a random audit by the State Bar, a combined balance of about $9,000 still remained in said trust account. The State Bar’s auditor determined that Ralph had failed to:
  1. File bank directives as required by the Disciplinary Rules
  2. Failed to properly determine the owners of said trust accounts
  3. Failed to maintain the minimum trust account records required by the Disciplinary Rules
  4. Failed to properly disburse all unclaimed funds remaining in his trust account
  5. Mismanaged client trust account
As a consequence of his misconduct the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Ralph by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Ralph continues to practice in the Shelby, North Carolina area.
