Attorney Grant Killoran of Milwaukee; congenital liar The state of Wisconsin presented Grant C. Killoran with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Washington University Law School.
The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Grant guilty of the following misconduct.
While a litigation partner at a large Milwaukee law firm, Grant represented a client in several lawsuits and appeals that followed a guardianship and protective placement matter. The guardianship petition was not filed before the ward was transferred, as required by law, a fact that Grant subsequently became aware of. Even though Grant knew the petition hadn’t been filed, he falsely told the trial judge that it had in fact been filed with the court.
Not satisfied with lying to the trial judge, Grant stood by while his associate told the same lie to the Court of Appeals during oral argument. Apparently, Grant was invoking his 5th Amendment right to remain silent was his associate lied to the Appeals Court. What a guy!
Grant’s repeated the same lies in at least two briefs he filed with the Court of Appeals. As expected, Grant never advised the Court of his associate’s lies.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme
Court punished Grant by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. . As we speak (ca. November 2012) Grant practices with O’Neill, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong & Laing SC at 111 East Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
