Attorney David Degroot of McAllen, TX; moron
The state of Texas presented David Arie Degroot with a law license in 2004 after he graduated from the University of Texas Law School.
A panel of the District 9 Grievance Committee found David guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, David filed an answer on a client’s behalf, but subsequently failed to timely respond to discovery requests, which resulted in the trial court deeming the admissions true to the detriment of his client.
In addition, David failed to file a response to the plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment. David failed to notify his client of a court scheduled hearing on the summary judgment motion. David then failed to appear at the hearing on behalf of his client. As a result of David’s gross negligence, the court granted summary judgment against his client.
As a consequence of his misconduct the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee punished David by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license. In truth, the buffoons sitting on the committee didn’t actually mete out any meaningful punishment to Rene.
As we speak (ca. November 2012) David practices with The Degroot Law Firm at 3827 North 10th Street in McAllen, Texas.
