Attorney David D. Brown of Green Bay, WI; serial thief

The state of Wisconsin presented David D. Brown with a law license in 1957 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found David guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Converted (stole) client funds to his personal use
  2. Misrepresented to a creditor that he held money in trust
  3. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  4. Wrote several checks on insufficient account (rubber)
  5. Failed to maintain required trust account records
As one would suspect, this wasn’t David’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary private reprimand and a public reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

David converted for his own personal use $2,500 of client funds held in a trust account to pay a judgment creditor he owed. In another case, he converted $5,100 of another client’s settlement funds and used the funds for his personal use.

Because Attorney Misfits in Wisconsin are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, David was never criminally charged for stealing client funds or for writing bad checks.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme
Court punished David by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand. .

As we speak (ca. November 2012) David continues to practice in the Green Bay, Wisconsin Area.
