Attorney Matthew Soule of Studio City, CA: ethically inept

The state of California provided Matthew Dean Soule with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the University of Oregon Law School.

The California Bar Court found Matthew guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while license suspended
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
Matthew and his wife, attorney Vivien Sasaki, borrowed $40,000 from a couple who were their clients. He previously represented the husband in legal matters dealing with a trademark application. Matthew failed to obtain written consent for the loan and advise the couple in writing of their right to seek the advice of another attorney.

In addition, Matthew’s law license was suspended on four (4) occasions (1994, 1996, 1999 and 2003) for failing to pay mandated State Bar fees.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Matthew by gifting him with a 120-day suspension of his law license

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Matthew practices at 12711 Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, California.
