The state of Arizona presented Sherman R. Bendalin with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from Arizona University Law School.
 
The Arizona State Bar found Sherman guilty of engaging in the following misconduct
  1. Failed to diligently represent a client’s interests
  2. Failed to timely refund unearned fees (cheater)
  3. Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter
  4. Failed to respond to client requests for information
  5. Failed to provide timely accountings of claims for attorney fees to client
  6. Failed to maintain accurate trust account ledgers
  7. Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  8. Failed to properly supervise office staff
  9. Failed to maintain controls to safeguard client funds
  10. Misconduct involved multiple offenses
In a Social Security claim matter, Respondent failed to diligently resolve his client’s questions about the resolution of her claims and failed to timely refund money she had overpaid in attorney’s fees. Respondent failed to keep the client reasonably informed or adequately explain the status of her matter and failed to promptly comply with her reasonable requests for information.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Sherman by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
