Attorney Richard Currier of Presque Isle, ME; ethical leprechaun

The state of Maine presented Richard L. Currier with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Maine Law School.

The Maine Grievance Commission found Richard guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to initially recognize the nature of his misconduct
  2. At the outset of the investigation, refused to express any remorse
  3. Richard’s misconduct was intentional
  4. Threatened disciplinary charges to gain advantage in civil litigation
Alwilda Williams hired Richard to review and investigate two real estate transactions to which she was a party that involved attorney Jeffrey Pickering. Shortly thereafter, Richard sent a letter to Pickering which he responded to within a few days. Subsequently, Richard sent Pickering another letter wherein he threatened to sue him and file an ethics complaint if he didn’t immediately return title to the property in question and discharge the balance owing on the mortgage.

Unfortunately for Dick, his attempted extortion didn’t bear any fruit, but it did cause Mr. Pickering to file a successful ethics complaint against him.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the grievance panel punished Richard by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (October 2012) Richard practices with Currier & Trask, P.A. at 55 North Street in Presque Isle, Maine.
