Attorney Mark McKinney of Muncie, IN; greedy loser

The state of Indiana provided Mark Richard McKinney with a law license in 1991.

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found Mark guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
Mark’s misconduct took place over an 11-year period of time while he was employed as a deputy prosecuting attorney responsible for conducting asset forfeiture proceedings. The problem was that Mark’s public duties conflicted with the private gain he realized from the forfeiture proceedings. On numerous occasions when the ethics of the asset forfeiture procedures were called into question, Mark turned a blind eye and acted to protect his private interest rather than that of the taxpayers.

In addition to his taxpayer funded salary, Mark also received attorney fees as a private practitioner for bring suits for the forfeiture of criminal defendants’ property. Greedy Mark received at least 25% of any amount received as a result of any asset forfeiture.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Mark by gifting him with a complimentary 120-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. October 2012) Mark practices with Dennis Wenger & Abrell at 324 West Jackson Street in Muncie, Indiana.
