Attorney John Detty of Jackson, OH; ethical dwarf

The state of Ohio presented John Detty with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Ohio Northern University Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found John guilty of the following misconduct.

John was romantically involved with the plaintiff in a divorce case. At the time, John was active in party politics and later became a member of his party’s county executive committee.

John approached the judge in the divorce case, who was a member of his political party, and told him that he was concerned about the manner in which the judge’s magistrate was conducting the case. Specifically, because of accusations that the defendant husband had molested a female child of the marriage, John was concerned about the magistrate’s stated intention to allow Christmas visitation rights to the husband. John told the judge that if he allowed the magistrate to continue to make such decisions, it would create political problems for the judge.

John then drafted a letter for a minister that was sent to the judge along with 500 similar letters that they were watching the court closely in regards to the divorce matter. John admitted that he personally appeared at the church and suggested to the members to write letters he had drafted to the judge.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Scott by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license. In truth, the comedians sitting on the Supreme Court didn’t really mete out any significant punishment to John.

As we speak (ca. September 2012) John is employed as the Prosecuting Attorney for Jackson County at 295 Broad Street in Jackson, Ohio.
