Attorney Tony Abbatangelo of Las Vegas; convicted wife beater

The state of Nevada presented Tony Abbatangelo with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from San Diego University Law School.
From 1993 through 2011, Tony sat as a Las Vegas Justice of the Peace. During his tenure on the bench, the Nevada Judicial Discipline Commission found Tony guilty of the following misconduct.
Tony was arrested and charged with domestic battery in connection to a beating he delivered to his wife at their home. Subsequently, Tony the Wife-beater pleaded no contest [guilty].
Tony’s misogynistic and criminal behavior led his wife to obtain a divorce after he pleaded guilty to beating her. Tony’s cowardly conduct also led to the voters in Las Vegas to tell him to take a hike when they voted him out of office.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Nevada Supreme Court punished Tony by gifting him with a complimentary censure and ordered that he wait four (4) years before he against attempts to dupe the voters in Las Vegas into electing him to the bench.
The State Bar never pursued any misconduct charges against Tony the Convict. Apparently, the Bar doesn’t consider convictions for wife-beating to constitute misconduct.
As we speak (ca. September 2012) Tony practices with Glen J. Lerner & Associates at 530 South 7th Street in Las Vegas, Nevada.
On its website at www.glenlerner.com, there’s no mention by Mr. Lerner of Tony’s wife-beating conviction. I suppose Lerner felt it wouldn’t be wise to disclose Tony’s conviction since it might limit the firm’s future victim pool.
