Attorney Raymond Buendia of San Diego; certified Dumbo

The state of California provided Raymond Ortiz Buendia with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara Law School.

The California Bar Court found Raymond guilty of the following misconduct.

Because Attorney Misfits in California are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Alan was never criminally charged with writing bad checks.
  1. Failed to perform legal services competently (Dumbo)
  2. Wrote checks against insufficient funds (rubber)
  3. Failed to properly manage client trust account
  4. Failed to communicate with clients
In one matter, Raymond filed a single asylum application for a family of four. When advised that individual applications were required for each family member, he re-submitted the applications, which were denied because the Dumbo didn’t fill them out properly.

Subsequently, Raymond represented two sons in the family separately before the INS. As a result of Ray’s actions, one son was deported and the case of the other son, who faced deportation proceedings, was considered abandoned by the INS. Ray the Dumbo failed to file mandatory court papers, paid an incorrect filing fee, and entered an incorrect alien registration number on his client’s (victims) behalf.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Raymond by gifting him with a complimentary a 60-day suspension of his law license.

As expected, this wasn’t Ray’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary and a public reproval for engaging in a variety of misconduct. For California Attorney Misfits, 3-Strikes and your out don’t apply.

As we speak (ca. September 2012) Raymond practices at 401 West “A” Street in San Diego, California.
