Attorney Stephen Bernard of Los Angeles; thief
The state of California provided Stephen Bernard with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from Southwestern University Law School in Los Angeles.
The California Bar Court found Stephen guilty of the following misconduct involving at least two clients (victims).
Stephen’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defenses
Stephen had the chutzpah to blame the theft of client funds by claiming he was engaged in a bitter divorce and child custody battle, and he was using illegal drugs.
As expected, the comedians sitting on the State Bar Court gave Stephen credit in mitigation for putting forth these excuses. Of course these kind of BS excuses are only available for Attorney and/or Judicial Misfits in California.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Mark by gifting him with a stayed 24-month suspension of his law license. In truth, the comedians on the Bar Court didn’t’ punish Stephen in any meaningful manner.
