Attorney Robert Silverman of Cherry Hill, NJ; ethical leprechaun

The state of New Jersey presented Robert M. Silverman with a law license in 1990.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Robert guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to abide by client objectives
  2. Failed to respond to client requests for information
  3. Failed to prepare written fee agreement as required
  4. Accepted compensation for representing client from someone other than the client
  5. Filed a frivolous (sham) lawsuit
  6. Charged an excessive fee (cheater)
  7. Failed to file required pre-action notice before suing client for fee
  8. Assisted or induced another to violate the rules of professional conduct
Robert represented a client in a lemon law case. Robert’s advertisements and letter to the client specifically stated that any fees would be paid by the auto manufacturer and not the client. Put simply, Robert’s fee agreements guaranteed the client that he/she would never be liable for any fees in regards to lemon law cases.

Attorneys representing Chrysler offered a $4,000 settlement, which the client agreed to. However, when Robert sent the settlement agreement to the client it stated that the client agreed that 50% of the settlement ($2,000) would be paid to Robert for fees. Of course the client refused to sign the fraudulent settlement agreement prepared by Robert and his firm.

And this wasn’t Robert’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously disciplined for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Robert by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2012) Robert continues to practice in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey area.
