Ex. Fresno, CA Assemblyman Eric Seastrand; crook, ethical derelict

From 1987 to 1989 Eric Seastrand claimed he purchased 17,268 gallons of fuel and drove over 310,984 miles in 3-years representing his Fresno constituents.

Now-deceased Assemblyman Eric Seastrand represented the 29th Assembly District in Fresno from 1983 through 1990.

Over a three-year period of time (ca. 1987-1989) Assemblyman Eric Seastrand spent $16,282.92 of public funds to purchase 17,268 gallons of fuel. At eighteen (18) mpg, he would have driven a total of 310,984 miles over a three-year period of time, which would be an average of 103,661 miles per year.

It is patently clear, that Assemblyman Eric Seastrand was charging fuel into one or more personal cars during this three-year period of time. To suggest that this certified ethical dwarf actually drove an average of 740 miles a day while in the Fresno area is of course absurd. If true, this would mean that Assemblyman Eric Seastrand spent about 18.5 hours each and every day driving.

Even more laughable is Assemblyman Eric Seastrand use of 8,064 gallons of fuel in 1989. At 18 mpg, he would have driven 145,152 miles, meaning he would have had to have driven about 1,037 miles per day. At 40 mph, Assemblyman Eric Seastrand would have spent about 25.9 hours on the road each day during 1989. Such a claim doesn’t pass the involuntary laugh test.

Assemblyman Eric Seastrand is yet another so-called fiscal conservative hyprocrite (is there another kind?) that found it convenient to hose California’s taxpayers by pilfering fuel for personal use.

What is truly appalling is the total lack of oversight and/or accountability of the Assembly Rules Committee in assuring that Californians weren’t being bilked by Assemblyman such as Eric Seastrand.

I’m confident that had Assemblyman Eric Seastrand or those of his ilk (for you morons, ilk is not a male Elk) submitted bills for fuel purchases of 25,000 gallons of fuel in a given year, the morons at the Assembly Rules Committee would have cheerfully paid the claims. And they would have done so event though the Assemblyman/woman would have had to have driven 450,000 miles in 140 days.
