Attorney John Coates of Long Beach, CA; repeat offender

The state of California provided John Thomas Coates with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from St. Mary’s University Law School in San Antonio, Texas.

The California Bar Court found Johnny guilty of misconduct on several occasions.

Johnny’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
  1. Failed to respond to repeated client requests for information
  2. Repeatedly lied to client about status of legal matter
A client paid Johnny $450 in fees and $185 as advanced costs to file an application to extend her work visa. After six months passed, John received notice from the INS that it rejected the application because neither the processing fee nor an application was included in his moronic filing. John never resubmitted the visa extension application after receiving notice from the INS.

After the client (victim) hired another attorney, Johnny was forced to admit that he had never done any work on the client’s behalf.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished John by gifting him with a stayed 24-month suspension of his law license. In truth, Johnny didn’t receive any meaningful punishment from the losers sitting on the Bar Court.

John was found guilty of violating probations conditions as a result of his earlier misconduct that included (a) failing to provide competent legal services, and (b) failing to communicate with clients.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2012) Johnny practices at 555 East Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach, California.
