Attorney John Dussi of Boston, MA; ethical elf
The state of Massachusetts presented John Dussi with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from Suffolk University School of Law.
The Board of Bar Overseers found Louie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.
-
Violated trust account rules
-
Failed to properly maintain their client trust accounts over several years
-
Failed to perform the required three-way reconciliations of their IOLTA accounts every 60 days
-
Failed to promptly distribute funds to clients and third parties, allowing money to languish in accounts for years in some cases
-
Wrote at least one check on insufficient bank account (rubber)
-
Problems persisted until 2018 when a hacker stole funds from four of Louie’s IOLTA accounts over the course of a month
-
Louie also did not move to replenish the stolen sums until directed by bar counsel half a year later
-
An investigation by the bar counsel found that three IOLTA accounts contained hundreds of uncleared checks dating back many years that had not been cashed, totaling over $111,000
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.
As we speak (ca. September 2024), Johnny practices his so-called brand of law at 255 State Street in Boston, Massachusetts.
