Former Judge Stephen H. Brown of Junius, NY; dimwitted slacker

The New York Judicial Commission found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as a Justice of the Junius Town Court, Seneca County.

Stevie’s 1^st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to enter judgment in a case
• Failed to avoid impropriety or the appearance of impropriety
• Improperly sent a threatening letter to Ms. Silbernagel as a method of enforcing the oral agreement he had
• reached with Mr. Smith
• Failed to uphold the Integrity and Independence of the Judiciary
• Abused his judicial power

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Juridical Conduct Commission punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

Stevie’s 2^nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

• Handled a small claims action involving a neighbor and long-time friend despite lacking subject matter
• jurisdiction over the defendant
• Failed to maintain professional competence in the law (dimwit)
• Stevie issued separate judgments to each party of the action awarding different money damages
• Stevie granted unlawful equitable relief in favor of his neighbor claimant
• Failed to uphold the Integrity and Independence of the Judiciary
• Failed to maintain high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the judiciary would be preserved
• Failed to avoid impropriety or the appearance of impropriety
• Failed to respect and comply with the law(scofflaw)
• Allowed a social relationship to influence his judicial conduct

Rather than await an ethics investigation that may well have led to him being tossed off the bench, Stevie did what any cowardly Judicial Misfit would do, he resigned from the bench.

As we speak (ca. April 2024), it is rumored that Stevie has an application pending as a greeter at the Walmart Supercenter Store at 1860 North Road in Waterloo, New York.
