Attorney Philip Paine of Apex, NC; ethical dwarf

The state of North Carolina presented Philip William Paine with a law license in 2003 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Phil guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to file a complaint before his client’s claim was barred by the statute of limitations
• Failed to respond to multiple calls and emails from the client
• While representing a different client, Phil repeatedly misrepresented the status of the matter to the client
• Failed to explain the matter to the extent reasonably necessary to permit the client to make an informed decision regarding the representation
• Stopped responding to the client’s phone calls

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Phil by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2024), Phil practices his so-called brand of law at 116 Coppercoin Court in Apex, North Carolina.
