Attorney Nancy Schramski of Lima, OH; ethically inept

The state of Ohio presented Nancy Susan Schramski with a law license in 1987 after she graduated from Ohio Northern University Law School.

The Grievance Committee for the Allen County Bar Association found Nancy guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Commingled client funds with her personal funds
  2. Failed to notify clients that she had no legal malpractice insurance
  3. Failed to promptly withdraw earned fees from attorney account
  4. Failed to maintain client ledgers showing ongoing client account balances
  5. Failed to perform monthly reconciliation of trust accounts
  6. Used her attorney IOLTA account to pay non-legal related expenses
Nancy found it appropriate to use her IOLTA account (Interest on Lawyer’s Trust Account) to pay for non-legal related expenses such as operating a restaurant that she co-owned. She also misused the account to purchase several vehicles and to make payments on them.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Nancy by gifting her with a one-year stayed suspension of her law license. In truth, the comedians on the Court didn’t actually punish Nancy in any meaningful way.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Nancy practices law at 119 N. West Street in Lima, Ohio which is about 70 miles south of Toledo.
