Judge Lewis Korngut of Lawrence Township, NJ; ethical troll

The state of New Jersey presented Lewis J. Korngut with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law.

FYI: Louie has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past thirty-seven (37) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Mercer County area was about to offer Bobby a good paying job.

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Louie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct as a part time judge of the Township of Lawrence Municipal Court and relates to his use of his personal Facebook account.

  • Failed to avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety
  • Failed to act in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the Judiciary
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Engaged in improper ex parte (one-sided) communications with the municipal prosecutor concerning pending court matters
  • During a conference in chambers with the municipal prosecutor, the public defender, and private defense counsel, Louie reviewed an accident report that had not previously been made available to the
  • prosecutor and defense counsel and was not part of the court's file
  • In the presence of the municipal prosecutor, public defender, and private
  • defense counsel, Louie improperly spoke to the police officer about the facts of the case
  • Based on Bobby’s conduct in speaking to a police officer about facts of the case, defense counsel immediately moved for Bobby’s recusal, which he then denied
  • Demonstrated a failure to conform his conduct to the high standards of conduct expected of judges
  • Impugned the integrity of the Judiciary
  • In the matter of State v. Ronald August Jr., Bobby stated to the defendant appearing before him
  • that a particular police officer who previously issued a summons to the defendant, "is a buddy of mine, a great guy"
  • In addition to fraternizing with police officers in court, Respondent socialized with the officers at public and private events outside of the courthouse
  • Participated in proceedings in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned
  • Failed to observe high standards of conduct so that the integrity and independence of the judiciary may be preserved
  • Failed to maintain order and decorum in judicial proceedings
  • Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers, and others with whom the judge deals in an official capacity
  • Failed to maintain order and decorum in judicial proceedings

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Louie by the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

As we speak (ca. February 2024), Louie continues to dispense his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a Municipal Court Judge for the Township of Lawrence in Lawrence Township, New Jersey.
