Attorney Benjamin Lillas of Tasmania; ethical dwarf

The Law Society of Tasmania provided Benjamin John Lillas with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from the University of Tasmania School of Law.

The Legal Profession Board of Tasmania found Benny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in unsatisfactory professional misconduct
  • Benny agreed to a vendor’s request for extension of time to obtain a separate title for property when he did not have instructions from the client Complainant to do so
  • Failed to seek instructions from the Purchasers regarding the extension of time
  • Unsatisfactory professional conduct of an Australian legal practitioner, where the conduct involves a substantial or consistent failure to reach or maintain a reasonable standard of competence and diligence

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Legal Profession Board punished Benny by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. January 2024), Benny practices his so-called brand of law at 58 Jowetts Lawn in Spreyton, Tasmania.
