Attorney Ross McLeod of Ontario, CAN; ethical gnome

The Law Society of Upper Canada presentedRoss Morley McLeod with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from the University Windsor School of Law.

The Disciplinary Hearing Panel for the Law Society of Ontario found Ross guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Knowingly assisted in dishonest or fraudulent conduct by his lender client, or associated persons, to obtain the equity in various properties
  • Utilized false pretenses, in connection with the transfer of the properties to a non-arm’s length party under a power of sale by or on behalf of that lender client
  • Failed to be on guard against being duped by unscrupulous clients or associated persons in connection with the same transactions involving various properties
  • Assisted in dishonest or fraudulent conduct by his lender client, to obtain continued first mortgage financing for particular property hereto under false pretenses
  • Was able to perpetrate a fraud through the non-disclosure of material information to the first mortgagee regarding the transfer of that property under a power of sale to a third party
  • Acted against a former client in a related matter without obtaining the client’s prior informed written consent
  • Represented his lender client against his former borrower client in course of enforcement proceedings commenced by the first mortgagee
  • Acted for both the borrower and lender on a loan transaction involving a private lender and a loan of more than $50,000 in connection with a piece of property

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Ross by the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society Disciplinary Committee.

As we speak (ca. February 2024), Ross practices his so-called brand of law at 300-69 John Street South in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
