Attorney Matys Rapoport of Ontario, CAN; ethical troll

The Law Society of Upper Canada presentedMatys Rapoport with a law license in 1994 after he graduated from Dalhousie University School of Law.

The Disciplinary Hearing Panel for the Law Society of Ontario found Matys guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Acted without integrity and in a conflict of interest by preferring his interests to those of his client by having his client S.S., enter into a retainer agreement which permitted Matys to remove himself as counsel of record at will
• While still acting for S.S., issued and served a Plaintiffs Claim and obtained judgment against his client, S.S., in order to recover legal fees
• Knowingly misled his client
• Failed to advise his client S.S. to obtain Independent Legal Advice prior to signing the Consents to Judgment, which added legal fees owed to Matys by a former client
• Misled his client S.S. when her advised her he would continue to represent her in her family law matter through to and including at trial, if she signed two Consents to Judgment in favor of Matys
• During his representation of S.S., communicated by his words and tone in a manner that was abusive, offensive and otherwise inconsistent with the proper tone of a professional communication from a lawyer.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society punished Matys by gifting him with a complimentary 4-month suspension of his law license and assessed investigative costs of $15,000.00.

As we speak (ca. February 2024), Matys practices his so-called brand of law with the Rapoport Professional Corporation at 19 Stanwood in Whitby, Ontario, Canada.
