Attorney John M. Carroll of Appleton, WI; serial offender

The state of Wisconsin presented John Miller Carroll with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Marquette University Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) found John guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to diligently pursue a client’s claim (slacker)
  2. Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter
  3. Failed to cooperate with grievance investigators (Up Yours said Johnny!)
  4. Engaged in conduct involving dishonest, fraud, deceit and misrepresentation
  5. Engaged in misconduct involving multiple trust accounts
  6. Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
  7. Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while his license was suspended
  8. Improperly provided financial assistance to client in connection with pending litigation
  9. Failed to timely return file to client after he was discharged
This wasn’t Johnny’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree.
  1. In 1992 Johnny received a complimentary reprimand for his conduct in mishandling trust funds.
  2. In 1997 Johnny received another complimentary reprimand for misrepresenting (lying) that he had filed a motion on behalf of a client.
  3. In 1999 Johnny received his 3rd complimentary reprimand from the comedians sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court for neglecting a legal matter entrusted to him, failing to communicate with a client, and refusing to return unearned fees.
As a consequence of his 4th bite at the Misfit Tree, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished John by gifting him with a complimentary 12-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2012) John practices with the John Miller Carroll Law Office at 226 South State Street in Appleton, Wisconsin.
