TheMichigan Judicial Tenure Commission found Charlie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Repeatedly disparaged criminal defendants appearing before him

Told criminal defendant to file malpractice suit against his attorney based on poor lawyering

Engaged in serious and ongoing problems involving several aspects

Failed to treat those appearing before him with respect

Threatened lawyers with sanctions or with the filing of a grievance with the Attorney Grievance Commission for submitting what Charlie believed were frivolous motions

On at least two occasions, Charlie ignored the concerns of defendants who were appearing before him that their lawyers were absent

On some occasions, Charlie took actions against defendants that appear to have been motivated by anger

On one occasion, Charlie once a defendant’s bond after the person moved to withdraw their guilty plea without providing any justification, suggesting Charlie was punishing him for deciding to go to trial

Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

Engaged in impropriety or the appearance of impropriety

Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Charlie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. January 2024), Charlie continues to dispense his so-called version of jurisprudence as a Berrien County Circuit Court judge in St. Joseph, Michigan.
