Attorney Jose Delcastillo of Hartford, CT; serial offender

The state of Connecticut provided Jose L. Delcastillo with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from the Brooklyn School of Law.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Jose’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received one (1) complimentary reprimand and two (2) suspensions of his law license for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found Jose guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Jose’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to file the required documents on required date
• Failed to obtain, within a reasonable time period, basic and important information as to the client’s eligibility for adjustment of immigration status
• Failed to appear at scheduled hearing on client’s behalf

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Jose by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

Jose’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to adequately protect client interests
• Failed to timely advise the client of the dismissal of her appellate rights severely compromised the client’s rights
• Reason for dismissal of client was due to Jose’s failure to file a brief in support of the appeal
• Jose knew or should have known that there was a thirty-day period in which to appeal the decision
• In order to adequately protect the client’s interests, Jose should have notified the client soon thereafter and advised him of his options regarding the appellate matter
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)

As we speak (ca. November 2023), Jose practices his so-called brand of law with Jose L. Delcastillo LLC at 215 Pearl Street in Hartford, Connecticut.
