Attorney Michael Knight of Mansfield, MA; cheating slacker

The state of Massachusetts presented Michael Peter Knight with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from the New England School of Law.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Mikey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to have a written fee agreement
• Charged an excessive fee (cheater)
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• On two separate occasions demanded $5,000 and $7,500 on one occasions in upfront fees to represent a client in a divorce matter
• On at least two occasions, the client
• Failed to communicate with his client
• Charged and collected excess fee in contravention of the flat fee agreement
• Failed to communicate to the client in writing the scope of the representation and the basis or rate of the fee and expenses for which the client would be responsible
• Failed to prepare or file any pleadings with the court to finalize the client’s divorce

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Bar Overseers punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.  

And lastly, as one would suspect, Mikey fails to mention the above misconduct on his self-serving website at www.knightlaw.org.  Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. November 2023), Mikey practices his so-called brand of law with the Knight Law Offices at 20 Cabot Blvd in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
