Criminal Appeals Judge Paul Womack of Austin; scofflaw, lifetime porker

The state of Texas provided Paul with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from the University of Texas Law School.

Since 1975 when he received his law license, Paul has dedicated the lion’s share of his adult life porking out at the public trough. From 1977 to 1981, Paul worked as a research assistant to former Judge Truman Roberts of the Court of Criminal Appeals. In 1982, Paul was appointed as an assistant district attorney in Travis County (Austin). In 1987 he was appointed first assistant DA in Williamson County. In 1997 Paulie duped the voters in Texas into electing him to the Court of Criminal Appeals.

In truth, Paulie has spent the last 35-years with his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. It appears that no self-respecting law firm in the Austin area was about to offer Paulie a good paying job.

The Texas Judicial Commission found Paul guilty of the following misconduct.

While running for re-election to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC) found Paul guilty of knowingly failing to timely file numerous campaign finance reports as required by Texas law.

The Texas Ethics Commission levied a fine of $20,500 against Paul for his repeated violations of Texas Law, which is one of the largest fines it has ever levied against a Judicial Misfit.

Because Judicial Misfits in Texas are held to a lower standard of conduct then everyone else, the Judicial Commission and the State Bar never took any action against Paulie for his repeated violations of Texas law.

As we speak (ca. July 2012) Paul remains sitting on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and is not up for re-election until 2014.
