Attorney Arturo Guzman of San Marcos, TX; cheater, repeater

The state of Texas presented Arturo Guzman with a law license in 1990 after he graduated from the University of Texas School of Law.

The District 1 Grievance Committee found Art guilty of the following misconduct.

Art’s 1st Bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to deliver unearned fees to his client (cheater)
  • Failed to properly safeguard client funds
  • Failed to deposit client advance fees into dedicated client trust account
  • Failed to comply with client information requests
  • Neglected client’s estate matter
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Art!)
  • Made misrepresentation to Texas Access to Justice Foundation when he falsely claimed that he did not handle client funds

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Art by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 12-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Art.

Art’s 2nd Bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to assure that non-attorney staff conduct was compatible with Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Failed to assure that funds owing to client were promptly delivered to the client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Art by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Art.

And lastlyas one would suspect, Art fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.sanmarcosfamilylaw.com. Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As speak (ca. November 2023), Art practices his so-called brand of law Art Guzman Attorney at Law PLLC at 604 West Hopkins Street in San Marcos, Texas.
