Attorney Jason Peltz of Asheville, NC; ethical gremlin

The state of North Carolina presented Jason Michael Peltz with a law license in 2002 after he graduated from Wake Forestl University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Jason guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Jason and staff under his supervision initiated a wire transfer of a client’s mortgage payoff funds pursuant to fraudulent wiring instructions without verifying the wiring instructions
• Jason and his staff failed to note numerous “red flags” which should have raised their suspicions about the fraud
• By failing to verify the wiring instructions before disbursing, Jason failed to use reasonable security measures to protect against theft from his trust account
• Failed to adequately supervise his nonlawyer assistants

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Jason by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Jason fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.worleypeltz.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal this highly relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. November 2023), Jason practices his so-called brand of law with Worley & Peltz PLLC at 42 Orchard Street in Asheville, North Carolina.
