Attorney Scott Neumann of Highlands, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Scott D. Neumann with a law license in 2012 after he graduated from Campbell University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found George guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Scottie and staff under his supervision initiated a wire transfer of a client’s funds pursuant to fraudulent wiring instructions without verifying the wiring instructions
  • In wiring client funds, Scottie and his staff failed to note numerous “red flags” which should have raised their suspicions about the fraud
  • By failing to verify the wiring instructions before disbursing, Scottie failed to use reasonable security measures to protect against theft from his trust account
  • Failed to adequately supervise his nonlawyer assistants

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Scottie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Scottie fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.neumannlawoffice.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal this highly relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. November 2023), Scottie practices his so-called brand of law with The Neumann Law Office at 460 Dillard Road in Highlands, North Carolina.
