Attorney Gordon Shuler of Columbus, OH; ethical elf

The state of Ohio presented Gordon Pearce Shuler with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from the University of Michigan Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Gordon guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to act with reasonable diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to keep client informed about legal matter
  3. Failed to promptly return client property after he was fired
  4. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his fitness to practice law
  5. Failed to consult with client concerning client objectives
  6. Failed to comply with client requests for information
  7. Failed to respond to disciplinary investigation (Up Yours, said Gordon!)
  8. Refused to communicate with client
  9. Failed to return unearned fees (cheater)
In one matter, Gordon received a $10,000 retainer which he billed against without providing the client with any billing statements. It wasn’t until after the client (victim) filed a grievance against Gordon that he refunded the unearned fee.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Gordon by gifting him with a stayed 60month suspension of his law license. In truth, the comedians sitting on the Court didn’t mete out any real punishment to Gordon.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Michael practices law at 145 East Rich Street in Columbus, Ohio.
