Judge Ray Dayton of Anaconda, MT; ethical elf

The State of Montana presented Ray Dayton with a law license in 1982 after she graduated from the University of Montana School of Law.

The Montana Judicial Standards Commission on Judicial Discipline found Ray guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Made inappropriate statements of sexual nature abut a witness who had testified about being stalked by the defendant in a trial
  • Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
  • Failed avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety
  • Failed to act with integrity and impartiality

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Montana Supreme Court punished Ray by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension from the bench.

As we speak (ca. October 2023), Ray continues to dispense his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a Third District Court judge in Anaconda, Montana.
