Attorney Ann Smits of Wayne, NJ; convicted criminal

The state of New Jersey presented Annmarie Marie Palmer Smits with a law license in 1994 after she graduated from Touro University School of Law.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Annie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Committed criminal act adversely reflecting on her fitness to practice
  • While Annie was attempting to secure her legally owned 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun for transport it inadvertently discharged
  • The discharged round, which traveled through a wall in Annie’s home, struck a minor child in the right thigh
  • and buttock
  • Annie was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a child
  • Annie also charged fourth-degree abuse or neglect due to her failure to obtain proper medical care for the minor

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Annie by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. July 2023), Annie practices her so-called brand of law with the Law Offices of Ann Marie Palermo Smits at 155 Willowbrook Blvd in Wayne, New Jersey.
