Former Judge Ronald Darby of Camden, TN; ethical troll

The State of Tennessee provided Ronald E. Darby with a law license in 1979 after he graduated from the University of Memphis School of Law.

The Board of Judicial Conduct found Ronnie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was employed as a Benton County Drug Court judge.

  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications with parties concerning pending matters
  • Failed to disqualify himself from cases when disqualification was mandatory
  • Engaged in financial and business dealing that exploited his judicial position
  • Ronnie’s conduct was calculated to bring the judiciary into public disrepute
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Used an individual, Brennan Baker, who was on probation in Drug Court, a Court over which Ronnie presided, to do work on his personal office, his personal residence and, his personal rental property
  • The labor efforts of Mr. Baker provided economic benefit to Ronni in the maintenance and enhancement of his property for which Ronnie provided no payments to Mr. Baker
  • Used a second individual, Jeremy Cole, who was on probation in Drug Court, for service activities to enhance the Ronnie's private property interests, and again never compensated Mr. Cole
  • Used a third individual, Adam Ducharme, who was on probation in Drug Court, for service activities to enhance Ronnie's private property interests, again Ronnie did not compensate Mr. Ducharme

  • Used a eighth individual, Ryan Langlois, who was on probation in Drug Court, he labor efforts of Mr. Langlois provided economic benefit to Ronnie in the maintenance and enhancement of the
  • His property for which he provided no payment to Mr. Langlois
  • Used a ninth individual, Anthony Nolan, who was on probation in Drug Court, for service activities to enhance Ronnie's private property interests, and again never compensated Mr. Nolan
  • Used a tenth individual, Jarrid Sterling, who was on probation in Drug Court, the labor efforts of Mr. Sterling provided economic benefit to Ronnie in the maintenance and enhancement of the
  • His property for which he provided no payment to Mr. Sterling
  • Used a eleventh individual, Justin Wyatt, who was on probation in Drug Court, for service activities to enhance Ronnie's private property interests, and again never compensated Mr. Wyatt
  • Used a twelfth individual, Matt Hooten, who was on probation in Drug Court, the labor efforts of Mr. Hooten provided economic benefit to Ronnie in the maintenance and enhancement of his property for which he provided no payment to Mr. Hooten

As one would suspect, Ronnie did what any cowardly Judicial Misfit is expected to do when faced with the overwhelming prospect that he was going to be tossed off the bench, he resigned.

As we speak (ca. June 2023), Ronnie practices his so-called brand of law at 127 South Forrest Avenue in Camden, Tennessee.
