The state of California presented John Hammett Carmichael with a law license in 1998 after he graduated from Loyola University School of Law.

The State Bar Court found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Entered into improper business transaction with a client
• Borrowed $7,500 from his client Rose Gramme
• Failed to advise Ms. Gramme in writing that she should seek advice of independent lawyer prior to lending Johnny $7, 500
• Failed to provide Ms. Gramme with sufficient time to seek legal advice concerning the $7,500 loan

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.
