Attorney Jill Shigut of Woodland Hills, CA; ethical troll

The state of California presented Jill Bobbette Shigut with a law license in 1998after he graduated from the Santa Barbara College of Law.

The State Bar found Jill guilty of the following misconduct.

• Jill was required to complete 25 hours of Minimum Continuing Legal Education ("MCLE") during the compliance period
• Jill reported under penalty of perjury to the State Bar that she was in compliance with the MCLE requirements, and, in particular, that she had completed her MCLE during the compliance period
• In fact, Jill had only completed six hours of eligible MCLE courses within the compliance period
• Willfully committed an act involving, moral turpitude, dishonesty or corruption

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Jill by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the State Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Jill.

FYI: Because Attorney Misfits in California are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Jill was never criminally charged with perjury.
