Former Judge Steven Lawrence of Melbourne, AR; convicted thief

The state of Arkansas provided Steven Dwayne Lawrence with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

The Arkansas Judicial Commission found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct while he was serving as a Melbourne District Court Judge in Melbourne, Arkansas.

  • Stevie was arrested and charged with a felony at to fraud-drug paraphernalia
  • Stevie knowingly and intentionally acquired a controlled substance by theft or fraud
  • Stevie also worked as a pharmacist working in the Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Mountain View
  • An audit of the Wal-Mart pharmacy was conducted and revealed that approximately 25,000 prescription drug pills were missing with a value of about $7,500
  • Stevie was subsequently arrested and charged with the theft of those drugs

Rather than wait for a decision that would have caused him to be tossed off the bench, Stevie did what most cowards would do, he resigned his judicial position.

As we speak (ca. May 2023), Stevie practices his so-called brand of law in Melbourne, Arkansas.
