Former Judge Michael Weiss of Clarksburg, WV; ethical troll

The Judicial Commission found Mikey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • During an episode wherein someone knocked on the back door of his home, Mikey and his son went searching for the person who the son claimed was wearing a gray sweatshirt
  • A boy and a girl who were playing volleyball went after the ball when he went over the fence and ran by the son who noticed the boy was wearing a gray sweatshirt
  • Subsequently, the boy and girl came upon Mikey who ordered them to go stand by a nearby car
  • Ward told the boy and girl that the police were on their way
  • The boy and girl then ran to a neighbory’s house for protection after seeing what they belived was a gun that Ward admittedly was carrying
  • When the police arrived, Ward told the neighbor, “You need to calm your ass down! I am a Magistrate.”
  • An officer’s bodycam caught Mikey calling the homeless in North View “shit bags.”
  • Mikey complained to the officers that the neighbor’s wife “started running her mouth because she’s a woman.”
  • Failed to comply with the law (scofflaw)
  • Engaged in conduct that failed to promote public confidence in the judiciary
  • Abused the prestige of his judicial office to advance his personal interests
  • Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers, court staff, court officials and others with whom Ward dealt with in an official capacity

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As one would suspect, Mikey did what most cowardly Judicial Misfits in West Virginia do under the circumstances, he resigned his judicial office and promised to never again seek a judgeship in the future.

As we speak (ca. April 2023), it is rumored that Mikey has an application pending for a job as a greeter at the Walmart Supercenter Store at 550 Emily Drive in Clarksburg, West Virginia.
