Appellate Justice Elizabeth Grimes of Los Angeles; ethical dwarf

The state of California presented Elizabeth Grimes with a law license in 1980 after she graduated from Stanford University Law School.

In 1997, then Governor Pete Wilson was duped into appointing Grimes as a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge. Elizabeth certainly wasn’t the most qualified attorney in the Los Angeles area; however, she earned her stripes by acting as a compliant lackey for the local political hacks in Los Angeles and Sacramento.

The Code of Judicial Ethics requires appellate judges to recuse themselves if they hold more than $1500 or more of stock in a company involved in a case they are assigned too. Elizabeth was part of a three-judge-panel considering whether to overturn a $603 million fraud and breach-of-contract against Boeing and one of its subsidiaries.

At the time she was assigned to the panel, Elizabeth owned Boeing stock worth $101,000 to $1 million according to court documents. (LA Times)

Despite the specific prohibition requiring her to withdraw from hearing the Boeing appeal, Elizabeth remained on the case for at least thirteen (13) months before she was basically forced to withdraw.

Global ICO Communications which won the $630 million verdict, asked the Calfiornia Supreme Court to review the appellate court’s decision, arguing that Elizabeth should have immediately withdrawn from the case because she owned Boeing Stock.

The California Judicial Commission refuses to acknowledge that an ethics complaint is pending against Elizabeth. There can be no dispute that she absolutely knew at the outset that her withdrawal from the Boeing case was mandatory. By thumbing her significant snout that the rules she should be removed from the bench.

Unfortunately, the Judicial Commission is in the business of protecting Judicial Misfits like Elizabeth. Even if a complaint is certified, at best she’ll receive a complimentary reprimand, which will only further prove that Judicial Misfits are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else.
