Former Judge David Hummel Jr. of Moundsville, WV; ethical troll

The state of West Virginia provided Marissa J. Brumbach with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law.

The West Virginia Judicial Investigation Commissionhas found Judge Brumbach guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• The way Davey conducted interviews of children violation the protection from psychological harm afforded by West Virginia Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings (“WVRPCANP”)
• Davey violated the Child Abuse Rules by not only failing to protect the older girl from harassment but also by perpetrating the harassment insofar as Davey repeatedly accused her of lying and left her in tears
• Davey erred in asking the girl leading questions that cause a reviewer to question whether they were calculated to confirm a pre-existing suspicion rather than elicit truthful testimony
• Davey violated West Virginia Law regarding firearms in the courtroom
• During a rate Saturday hearing in a civil case, Davey removed a firearm concealed on his person and put in on the bench in open view for the remainder of the proceeding
• At one point, Davey picked up the gun and displayed it for all to see
• Failed to comply with the law (scofflaw)
• Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
• Failed to avoid impropriety and the appearance of impropriety
• Abused the prestige of his judicial office
• Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers, court staff, court officials and other with whom he dealt with in his official capacity

As one would suspect, Davey did what most cowardly Judicial Misfits in West Virginia do under the circumstances, he resigned his judicial office and promised to never again seek a judgeship in the future.

As we speak (ca. March 2023), Davey practices his so-called brand of law at 600 7^th Street in Moundsville, West Virginia.
