Attorney Byron Hatchett of Abilene, TX; ethical misfit

The state of Texas provided Byron William Hatchett with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law.

The District 14 Grievance Committee found Byron guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to complete any work on client case
  • Failed to keep Complainant reasonably informed about the status of his case
  • Failed to promptly comply with reasonable requests for information

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Byron by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension and ordered him to pay $250.00 in investigative costs.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Byron.

As we speak (ca. January 2023), Byron practices his so-called brand with the Hatchett Law Firm in Abilene, Texas.
