Judge Cathleen Nichols of Flagstaff, AZ; ignoramus, slacker

The state of Arizona provided Cathleen Brown Nichols with a law license in 1986 after she graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law. Cathy was also provided with a license to practice in Arizona in 1995.

The Commission on Judicial Conduct found Cathy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while she was sitting as a Coconino County Superior Court judge in Flagstaff.

  • In over 20 matters pending before her, Cathy failed to timely issue a ruling
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to perform her judicial and administrative duties competently (imbecile)
  • Failed to assure that her court staff and others subject to her direction and control acted in a manner consistent with a judge’s obligations under the Code of Judicial Conduct

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Cathy by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2022), Cathy continues to dispense her so-called brand of jurisprudence as a Coconino County Superior Court in Flagstaff, Arizona.
