Attorney Richard Trahant of Metairie, LA; ethical troll

The state of Louisiana presented Richard Charles Trahant with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from Tulane University School of Law.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Meredith S. Grabill of the Eastern District of Louisiana found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Knowingly violated court order (Up yours, said Dick!)
  • Dick represents victims of priest abuse and in doing so hinted about allegations against a Catholic priest in violation of a protective order
  • The bankruptcy trustee notified the bankruptcy court that someone had wrongfully disclosed protected information about a priest accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old girl
  • Dick evaded and failed provide information timely to counsel for the committee and the debtor regarding his own conduct
  • Dick engaged in bad-faith actions which caused the debtor, the committee and the [U.S. trustee] to divert and expend resources unnecessarily to uncover information that Dick had all along

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Bankruptcy Judge Meredith S. Grabill imposed a sanction of $400,000.00 against Dick.

As we speak (ca. October 2022), Dick practices his so-called brand of law at 2908 Hessmer Avenue in Metairie, Louisiana.
