Attorney Peter Mason of Alberta, CAN; ethical gremlin

The Law Society of Alberta presentedPeter B. Mason with a law license in 2007 after he graduated from the University of Alberta School of Law.

The Hearing Committee for the Law Society of Alberta found Pete guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to confirm certifications he deemed to give upon signing trust cheques were in place
• Failed to maintain money on deposit in his trust account in an aggregate amount sufficient to meet all trust obligations
• Failed to immediately notify the Law Society that a deficiency in an amount greater than $2,500.00 existed in his trust account
• Failed to maintain his firm’s prescribed financial records
• Failed to conduct and maintain monthly bank reconciliations of his trust account
• Failed to properly supervise his staff

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hearing Committee punished Pete by gifting him with a complimentary 1-month suspension of his law license and ordered that he pay $10,000.00 in investigative costs.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Pete fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.petermasonrealestatelawyyer.com. Apparently, they decided to conceal this highly relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting their future victim pool.
