Judge Reed O’Connor of Ft. Worth, TX; serial bigot

The state of Texas presented Reed O'Connor with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from South Texas University School of Law. 

FYI: South Texas College of Law is ranked as the 177^th best law school in the country out of 200 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools.

In one matter, Reed the Bigot was assigned to preside over a case involving the Affordable Care Act’s requirement that insurance plans cover HIV-prevention drugs.

Reed’s fellow bigots with Braidwood Management, a Christian for-profit corporation owned by conservative activist Steven Hotze was the plaintiff in the case arguing that so-called Christians in Texas had an absolute right to discriminate against gay folks afflicted with HIV.

Hotze and his fellow bigots argued that providing compulsory coverage for the PrEP drugs makes them “complicit in facilitating homosexual behavior.” (Debra Cassens Weiss)

In his homophobic ruling involving his fellow Bigot Hotze’s lawsuit, Reed ruled as follows.

• “The government did not show a compelling interest for the mandate requiring insurers to provide anti-HIV medications, which was needed to defeat Hotze’s claims.”
• “Defendants outline a generalized policy to combat the spread of HIV but provide no evidence connecting that policy to employers such as Braidwood, nor do they provide evidence distinguishing potential religious exemptions from existing secular exemptions.”

It is a well-known fact that when Bigots are looking for a friendly and fellow Bigoted Jurist, they almost always select Reed to preside over their unconstitutional bigoted views.
