Judge Barbara Stalder of Houston, TX; ethical misfit

The state of Florida provided Barbara Jean Rice Stalder with a law license in 2003 after he graduated from the University of Houston School of Law.

The Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Barbie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Lectured two lawyers about their alleged behavior in the courthouse hallway in the presence of others
  • Barbie did not hold a contempt hearing against either of the lawyers
  • Failed to be patient, dignified and courteous in her dealings with litigants and/or attorneys appearing in her court
  • Showed disregard for the lawyer’s rights
  • Exhibited total disregard for the rights of a litigant appearing before her
  • Conducted herself in a way that cast public discredit on the judiciary (Pray tell!)

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Barbie by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2022), Barbie practices her so-called brand of jurisprudence as a 280th Family Court judge in Houston, Texas.
